NEO WARP 3

NEO WARP 3

*** Registration Deadline is Nov. 5th ***

The Near-Earth Object Workshops to Assess Reconnaissance for Planetary defense (NEO WARP) series focuses on the third goal of the United States National Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan for Near-Earth Object Hazards and Planetary Defense to "develop technologies for NEO reconnaissance, deflection, and disruption missions" and specifically includes actions aimed at technology development for rapid-response NEO reconnaissance missions.

In these workshops, we gather the community to discuss NEO rapid-response reconnaissance missions for planetary defense while focusing on three themes: (1) understand NEO reconnaissance requirements from relevant stakeholders; (2) identify technology gaps and potential concepts for NEO flyby reconnaissance performance; and (3) identify technology gaps and potential concepts for NEO rendezvous reconnaissance performance. The National Plan discusses both flyby and rendezvous planetary defense mission concepts, and hence both are a focus for these workshops.

The NEO WARP 3 Workshop will focus on theme #3 above, "identify technology gaps and potential concepts for NEO rendezvous reconnaissance performance." NEO WARP 3 will take place at the University of Arizona Center in Washington, D.C, on November 14-16, 2023. The meeting will run 2.5 days, ending around noon on November 16. Full group discussions will be hybrid; breakout sessions will be either in-person or virtual (NOT hybrid for breakout sessions).

Thanks!
